Sugiban: A japanese wood treatment that took forever to accomplish but was worth every minute. We burnt 1200 sqft of tongue and groove pine with a propane blow torch then hand rubbed off the char. Then we put a protective coat of poly on after cladding three walls. This technique revealed a rich texture in the wood and carmelized the knots (its worth taking a second look at the next time you are in the brewery).
